The re-opening of Palos Verdes Intermediate School (PVIS) in 2002 needed creative solutions for traffic and safe walking paths to school. The neglected Via Carrillo parkland strip was a natural connection from lower Lunada Bay to PVIS. Residents rallied and, with the support of LBHOA and the City, responded with sturdy concrete steps, decomposed granite (DG) pathways, and easy care landscaping.
Today Via Carrillo is a safe popular drop off and pick up spot for intermediate students. Neighbors enjoy the expanse of lawn and colorful bougainvillea.
